substitute conductor (opened 01/20/2024)

Assist The Houston Youth Chamber Orchestra when a substitute conductor is needed for one of our three orchestra rehearsals. Potential consideration for longer term work as well.

Responsibilities

1. Lead an orchestra as the main conductor (and possibly sectional coach) in rehearsal from 5:45-7:15 or possibly 5:45-7:45pm on Sunday evenings as indicated on the season calendar.

2. Relay end of rehearsal notes to the Executive Director in preparation for the next rehearsal.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required. Master's preferred.

  Creative and enthusiastic individual with great focus and attention to detail. Experience working with kids (ages 5-19) preferred.

• Excellent interpersonal skills; must be adept at working collaboratively with staff.

• Video recording of conducting experience, if available, to be submitted with résumé along with one reference to Colleen Johnson hyco@hycomusic.org

• Wage/service: Based upon credentials. Estimated: $150-200/service.
